Crispy on the outside and spongy on the inside, these guilt-free Crispy Baked Onion Pakoras (Fritters) will definitely complement your monsoon evenings. Enjoy these super crispy fritters with a cup of Masala Chai while you enjoy the downpours.

Ingredients

  • Onion, thinly sliced – 4
  • Besan (Gram flour) – 4 tbsp
  • Rice flour – 4 tbsp
  • Baking soda – 1/8 tsp 
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Green chilli, finely chopped – 1 
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt – As per requirement 
  • Garlic, crushed – 3 cloves
  • Curry leaves – 2-3 
  • Coriander – 2 sprigs
  • Oil – 4 tbsp 
  • Chat masala – As per taste

Method

Step 1: Take a bowl, add sliced onion, besan, chopped green chilli, rice flour, red chilli powder, salt, crushed garlic, curry leaves and turmeric powder.

 

Step 2: Add 2 tbsp of oil and mix all the ingredients properly with the help of a spoon.

 

Step 3: Sprinkle 2 tbsp of water and make a sticky dough. Please check the water consistency else your dough could become soggy.

 

Step 4: Preheat the microwave oven for 5 mins at 160C.

 

Step 5: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the dough into small portions. Sprinkle remaining oil on each portion.

 

Step 6: Bake the fritters for 25 minutes at 160oC

 

Step 7: Crispy Baked Onion Pakoras are now ready to serve hot. Sprinkle Chaat masala and enjoy without the guilt of eating oily food!

You can also add other vegetables such as carrots and capsicums to make vegetable pakoras
